Borobudur Temple, The Biggest Buddhist Temple in The Ninth Century


Borobudur is a ninth-century Mahayana Buddhist monument near Magelang, Central Java, Indonesia. The monument comprises six square platforms topped by three circular platforms, and is decorated with 2,672 relief panels and 504 Buddha statues. A main dome, located at the center of the top platform, is surrounded by 72 Buddha statues seated inside perforated stupa.

Imogiri

Imogiri (also Imagiri) is a royal graveyard complex in Yogyakarta, in south-central Java, Indonesia, as well as a modern village located near the graveyard in Bantul regency. Imogiri is a traditional resting place for the royalty of central Java, including many rulers of the Sultanate of Mataram and of the current houses of Surakarta and Yogyakarta Sultanate. The name Imagiri is derived from Sanskrit Himagiri, which means 'mountain of snow'. The latter is another name for Himalaya.

Baron Beach

Baron Beach is one of the most famous beaches in the southeastern area of Yogyakarta. It is located on the village of Kemandang, Tanjungsari ,Yogyakarta about 20 km away from Wonosari. Although not as popular as Parangtritis Beach, some people even prefer Baron Beach than Parangtritis, for the fact that it has a much cleaner environment, it’s more desolated and the sand is more interesting than that of Parangtritis.

Siung Beach, Cliff Climbing Here

Siung Beach is located in a remote area in Gunung Kidul Regency, to the south of Tepus Sub-Regency to be exact. The distance is around 70 kilometer from the center of Yogyakarta city or it will take you around 2 hours drive. Since it is difficult to get public transportation to go the beach, it would be easier if you make your travel with your own vehicle. Public bus or mini van from Wonosari city will stop at Tepus area only and you have to wait long to get one.

Adisucipto International Airport, Comfortable Airport in Yogyakarta

Adisucipto (or Adisutjipto) International Airport (IATA: JOGICAO: WARJ) is the principal airport serving the Yogyakarta area on the island of Java, Indonesia.
It is located in the Sleman district, in the Yogyakarta Special Region, on the north-east outskirts of the city, near the Prambanan historic temple site. It has one runway, with dimensions of 2,200 metres (7,200 ft) by 45 metres (148 ft). The airport is located about 6 kilometres (3.7 mi) from the city center.
Adisucipto Airport is the third busiest airport in Java, after Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (CGK) in Jakarta and Juanda International Airport (SUB) in Surabaya.

Vredeburg Fort

Malioboro Street

Malioboro Street is a major shopping street in Yogyakarta, Indonesia; the name is also used more generally for the neighborhood around the street. It lies north in the line between Yogyakarta Kraton and Mount Merapi.

Kasongan Pottery Center

Kasongan is known as the Village of Pottery, located at the Southern area of Yogyakarta, at Bangunjiwo District of Kasihan. The area is approximately 4 kilometers from Bantul. The tourism village is a place that’s full of household products and crafts, mostly made of clay. The various forms of ceramic handicrafts with artistic motifs and design are the magnets that attract tourist, both local and foreign.

Kotagede, Silver Handycraft Center

WHO does not know the area Kotagede? Silver centers that have become its own brand image for every tourist who came to Yogyakarta. The area is located about 10 kilometers southeast of Yogyakarta city attracts tourists, especially foreign tourists, because a lot of silver jewelry and accessories on offer there.
Kotagede addition, there are actually several other silver centers in Indonesia, such as Bali and Lombok.
However, Kotagede silver has its own characteristics, which still maintain their handicraft manufacturing process manually. “Since first until now the benefits of our products are in the manual work,” said Rifai A Halim, a businessman in Kotagede silver.

Parangtritis Beach


In addition to being the most popular beach in Yogyakarta, Parangtritis is worth visiting since it is closely related to such tourism objects as the Sultan Palace in Yogyakarta city, Parangkusumo Beach to the west of it, and the Merapi area at the north part of Yogyakarta. Located around 27 kilometers from the city center, Parangtritis Beach is also part of the Queen of South's authority.
The naming of the beach has its own history. Hundreds years ago, someone named Dipokusumo, who was a fugitive of Majapahit Kingdom, came to this area to meditate.
When he saw water dripping from the crack of the coral reef, he named this area 'parangtritis', originating from the word parang (stone) and tumaritis (water drops). The beach close to the area was then named the same.

Sultan Palace

Before 1755 Surakarta or Solo was the capital of Mataram Kingdom. After the treaty of Giyanti in 1755, Mataram was devided into two kingdoms are Kasunanan Palace in Solo and Sultan Palace in Yogyakarta. Following the treaty, Prince Mangkubumi the brother of Susuhunan Pakubuwono II the King of Kasunanan Palace, was crowned as the King of Sultan Palace in Yogyakarta. He was then called Sultan Hamengku Buwono I.
The Sultan’s Palace or Kraton, with its grand elegent Javanese architecture, lay in the centre of Jogja city. It was built in 1755 by Prince Mangkubumi was then called Sultan Hamengku Buwono I. The Sultan Palace stretches from north to south.

Prambanan Temple


Prambanan is the ninth century Hindu temple compound in Central Java, Indonesia, dedicated to Trimurti, the expression of God as the Creator (Brahma), the Sustainer (Vishnu) and the Destroyer (Shiva). The temple compound located approximately 18 km east of Yogyakarta city on the boundary between Yogyakarta and Central Java province. The temple is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, currently is the largest Hindu temple in Indonesia, and is one of the largest Hindu temples in south-east Asia. It is characterised by its tall and pointed architecture, typical of Hindu temple architecture, and by the towering 47m high central building inside a large complex of individual temples.
